THEM plus support, Thank Your Lucky Stars

Among all the pop-tastic images of the Beatles, Bachelors, Herman’s Hermits, Cliff Richard and the like in Thank Your Lucky Stars annual, 1965, are some splendid shots of my fave raves. The two pix of THEM are outstanding as are the two of those young hoods, the Pretty Things.

Did the Fairies ever make another appearance in a pop annual? This is the Nick Wymer line-up with the band promoting ‘Get Yourself Home’. Nick is doing his best impersonation of Ron Wood in the Birds . . . 100% ton-up beatnik to paraphrase Brian Hogg. The Fairies shared the programme with Del Shannon and Francoise Hardy

The cover design is a terrific example of Pop Art being fed back into the pop culture from which it emerged . . . making the loop between the fine and the vulgar arts complete. Unfortunately, there are no pix of the Who included in the book. I guess they got bumped by Gerry and the Pacemakers

“Who you screwing mate?”
